Excelsior Classes Refund & Change Policy for SY 2026-2027

Please Note: Excelsior Classes has updated our Refund & Change Policy to reflect current payment structures, course planning processes, and the evolving homeschool landscape—including ESA and third-party funding programs.

These updates are designed to help families register with confidence, understanding how tuition and refunds are managed as we continue to provide strong, well-planned classes for every student.

Excelsior Classes understands that family circumstances may change. At the same time, accurate enrollment is essential for building strong, well-attended classes where students can thrive.

Our policy is designed to balance classroom stability with family flexibility.

Refund Policy for Fees & Tuition

Excelsior Classes begins reserving seats, confirming instructors, and incurring administrative costs as soon as families register. Course “go” decisions are made in late July and early December based on committed enrollments. When a family withdraws after registration, it affects not only the teacher but also other families who were counting on that course to move forward.

For these reasons, certain fees are non-refundable, and tuition refunds decrease as classes approach. Our goal is to balance classroom stability with family flexibility.

Any course canceled by Excelsior Classes prior to the start of classes (due to class minimums, etc.) will receive a full refund of all tuition and applicable fees.

Additional Information:

  • Refunds are calculated based on payments received as of the date written withdrawal notice is received.

  • For payment-plan participants, any applicable refund is limited to the amount of tuition collected to date, and any remaining scheduled drafts will be canceled upon withdrawal.

  • Refunds, when issued, are net of any payment-processing (credit card or ACH) fees already incurred.

  • Excelsior Classes’ refund policy applies equally to all families, including those using Education Savings Accounts (ESA) or other third-party funding sources.

  • Families enrolling with ESA or similar programs agree to these refund terms regardless of funding status or reimbursement delays from the state or vendor.

  • This policy applies to the 2026–2027 academic year and supersedes all prior versions.

Course Changes

Families may switch to another available course at no charge until the end of the first week of classes, subject to seat availability.

After the first week of classes, course movement is extremely limited and generally not permitted.

Registrations do not carry over from one academic year to the next.

Course Change & Deposit Use

If a family needs to drop a class prior to the start of classes, they may request to apply the original course deposit and any tuition payments already received toward:

  • Another available course for the same student, or

  • Another available course for a different student within the same family,

provided the change occurs within the same academic year and is approved by Excelsior Classes.

Deposits are:

  • Non-refundable

  • Not cash credits

  • Not transferable across academic years

Tuition payments (excluding deposits):

  • Are subject to the refund schedule outlined on this page

  • Are not cash credits

  • Are not transferable across academic years

Deposits and tuition payments are not a general credit or “wallet” and:

  • May not be banked for future use

  • May not be reassigned or reallocated after classes have begun, except as required by the refund policy

Courses purchased using a discount coupon code are non-transferable. To switch to a different course, families must pay any applicable tuition difference plus a $20 processing fee.

Once the refund request is confirmed, applicable refunds are processed in a timely manner. Because tuition payments are not held or banked for future use, refunds are issued according to the refund schedule outlined on this page.

Self-paced courses and independent studies are non-refundable once purchased.

Families enrolling with ESA or similar programs agree to these refund terms regardless of funding status or reimbursement delays from the state or vendor.
