Are you interested in joining the Excelsior Classes Consortium?

Excelsior Classes desires passionate, expert online educators to join our consortium and build their personal brand.

With a high teacher retention rate, many of our educators have been with us for years, which means opportunities to teach core courses are rare. We view this role as an excellent option for supplemental income or as one stream of revenue for educators.

Typically, we bring new teachers on board for the following school year during November and December. However, we welcome applications year-round and review them when unexpected openings arise.

Display a love for God and Excelsior families

Have recent experience teaching in a classroom or online

Plan and communicate effectively

Contribute actively as part of a consortium

Share a biblical worldview in their subject

Possess deep subject expertise through education and experience

Are savvy users of technology*

Agree with Excelsior’s guiding principles

* Includes Zoom, Google, and Microsoft products. Knowledge of a Learning Management System a plus.

Qualifications & Consortium Admission Process

Excelsior Classes accepts applications year-round, although we typically seek new teachers in late fall for the following school year. While we’ve outlined some common needs below, immediate openings may arise at any time. We encourage you to submit your application, as we always refer to our applications on file when a need arises. If you have other ideas for course topics, please let us know.

All candidates undergo a thorough interview and onboarding process before joining the consortium as teachers. This ensures that the collaboration is a good fit for both the candidate and the consortium. Please note that teachers are not salaried, full-time employees.

When we do have openings, these are the qualities we’re seeking for that specific subject area:

Spanish
(or any other foreign language)
  • Candidates should have native or near-native proficiency in speaking.
  • Candidates with a degree in second-language education or in the target language are strongly desired.
  • Candidates must have recent language teaching experience.
  • Successful applicants must pass an interview conducted in the target language.)
English
  • Candidates with a degree in English or in English education are desired; exceptions to this would be mass communication or liberal arts degrees.
  • Candidates must be exceptional in providing detailed feedback.
  • Candidates must have significant mastery of grammar and be able to instruct and correct composition; candidates with a love of literature must also be strong grammarians and writers.
  • Candidates must have recent language teaching experience.
  • Successful candidates must pass a grammar proficiency test and a simulation grading project.

  • Candidates with a degree in Math, Math Education, Engineering or other sciences are desired.
  • Candidates must have recent math teaching experience.
Science
(unique subject areas)
  • Candidates must have recent teaching experience; online teaching experience is preferred.
Art
(particularly Photography or animation)
  • Candidates must have recent teaching experience; online teaching experience is preferred.
